Why I founded
Trơn Tru Hội
Nguyễn Mai Chi
Founder of Trơn Tru Hội

In 2022, my journey to apply to China began with me figuring out every step on my own.
That very experience is why I want those who follow to have a place to ask questions, share their journey, and find support whenever they need it.
Trơn Tru was built on the belief that every profile has its own unique starting point. What matters is understanding where you stand, investing time in the right areas, and following a roadmap tailored to your goals.
Exchange Student, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC)
Master of Logistics Engineering, Tsinghua University (THU)
MBA, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU)
B.A. in International Business Administration, Foreign Trade University (FTU)
In Chinese, 珍珠会 (Zhēnzhū Huì) evokes the image of pearls—both the familiar topping in milk tea and the precious gemstone.
At Tron Tru, we see every student as a pearl in the making. Each person starts from a different point, carrying their own story, personality, and unique strengths. Through every experience, every lesson, and every quiet effort, those seemingly ordinary things gradually become the unique traits that define your true value.
And "Tron Tru" (Smooth) is what our team aims to deliver each application season: an empathetic companion, a clear roadmap, and a smoother journey so you don't have to navigate too many choices all by yourself.

Every pearl has its own way of becoming a shining gem. Tron Tru simply hopes to accompany you on that journey.
Building a path, not just polishing an application
The study abroad consulting industry easily slips into a transactional process: receive files, fill out forms, submit, and wait. That approach might generate volume, but it fails to address the deciding factor: the actual capability of the person behind the application.
We believe that most of you coming here are aiming lower than your true potential. A mentor's job isn't just to polish an application, but to identify your true ceiling and help you reach it—even if that destination seems out of reach on day one.

Mentors who will support you
The rigorous standards behind every application
A great application is built on more than just a GPA. The following four principles determine how we read applications, select schools, and work with you—even when they make our own job harder.

No gatekeeping
We share everything we know about how admissions committees evaluate applications, including the parts you can easily do yourself without us. Tron Tru Hoi was founded because the founder once felt lost without guidance from those who had gone before. That kind of gatekeeping is the one thing we promise never to repeat.
Always pushing you to the next level
Telling you to lower your goals is the easiest way for us to get a nice "acceptance rate" for marketing. But we don't do that. We will push you to aim for schools beyond your self-imposed limits—and we dare to do so because we have carefully prepared safe backup plans for you from the start.

We never measure you against anyone else
There is no "perfect application" mold for you to squeeze yourself into. We evaluate your application for its own unique qualities: identifying strengths to offset weaknesses and being honest about how much time is needed to polish it. Mindless comparisons only discourage truly capable people and cause them to give up too soon.
Guidance, not hand-holding
We work with you to review, guide, refine, and practice for interviews. But the story must be yours to tell, and you must be the one who understands every document you submit. You are the one sitting across from the admissions committee—so you must be the one in control of your own application.

Trơn Tru Activities
Beyond application support, Trơn Tru regularly hosts mentee meetups, seminars, and networking events with schools, organizations, and student communities. These provide a space for you to exchange experiences, stay updated on study abroad information, and connect with others on their own academic journeys in China.
